Mooncake festival

I know it sounds kinda odd to blog about mooncake festival as it is already long over. But celebrating this day in UK where u hardly see any chinese..Plus the cold weather always make me miss home more. No playing candles by the park and no lattern fighting with younger kids like what we always do back home.


Though being so far away from home, we still do celebrate mooncake festival ala UK style. Sipping tea at frens house and ate home bake mooncake. Not forgetting, "family" dinner with my chinese colleagues.


Speaking of home bake mooncake, I wouldnt wanna be shy to show off some of my baking masterpiece. Though not professional but definitely tasty and healthy.

Little did I realise that the blog belongs to nevertherless bestie tong tong.. Can't belive I din even realise that she's selling and modelling clothes on the blog..How can I be that blind..

Moving in to some of Wen's post about frens..made me feel real guilty for not catching up with all of them..I'm really so so so SORRY..thousand, million and zillions of sorry..Let me undo what I had done..

Was living in my own world with work..more homework and homework..lacking initiative to blog and FB. I realise I really miss u guys so much..

Baking expedition

At some point of time during my summer hols, I became a baking fanatic for no reason. I wasn't exactly a stay-at-home-and-cook kind a girl..more likely to be labeled as playful girl..

Summer got me so warmed up to make cupcakes, jelly cakes and some other asian dessert..mostly desserts...those were my favourites..I do have sweet craving all the time which is kinda scary cos I cant lose weight this way!!! arghh...and its frustrating..

The first successful cake for the first time of my life.. A dragonfruit jelly cake top with assorted fruits..





Was indeed quite suprise by myself... I guess I even surprise my mom..The cake was made when I was back in Malaysia, so my mom kinda know every single things I do..To her I'm a total baking noob. Show u guys a upclose of my cake..hehe..Never be surprise enough!!






The second I came back, seeing that my cupboard is stock with coconut milk..my cravings come again..Needed for bo-bo-cha-cha..Missed it so much when I'm far in UK. Used to eat it like every week when I was a kid in Malaysia..Mummy I miss your bo-bo-cha-cha..Sweet coconut milk concoction with "everything nice" in it. YUMMY!!!

But been so lazy lately with all my work coming up..I prefer to sleep and eat more than anything..I hope to even diminish the "eat" part if possible..I wonder how is it like if human can survive without eating!! I know I can't...cos I can't even survive without eating more than 8 hours..arghh..

Wanna add in also another un-relevant note in this post..Really and extremely unrelevant..Random stupid things I do in UK. Teaching one of my colleague how to use a nappy for his future baby while working. Stupid and definitely unrelevant..But I still need to post it up...haha..just for the fun of it..Thats how I share my love with everybody..

Damm..but its was pretty interesting..So can't really scold him..Though I'm resenting him deep inside my heart!! hiak hiak hiak :p

The game name is SAY what you SeE!!

The idea of this IQ game is to guess what is the "hidden" meaning of the word shown. Some could be quite easy..Some are quite tricky!!

An example :

a) six sense

b) Oversea vacation

c) What goes up, must come down

Now try to guess the others..

I don't think there are a definite answer for this quiz. Its just up to ur creativity to decipher what those words means..

A little celebration

Ntg been going with my life lately..other than working, classes and more studio work (which I hate it 99). Getting so sick of studio work..which never seems to end..from the start of the semester, the work is already a few mountains...after half a sem, its still a few mountains I see..no progression, no benefits, learn nothing..arghh!!

The heartbeat of my life almost died of boredom playing the same beat over and over again..

Till..Jimmy's bday party and also Florence farewell party...We had a good laugh with steamboat..though not very nice or good food..(except the beef and sotong) But its nice to gather all of us together once in a while.

Jimmy- my ex restaurant manager who I used to be very scared of him when I first came..he got the very stern look lo..as if he's gonna kill me if I did the wrong drink or serve the wrong table..like a hawk watching small little fish swimming in the pond. But after you get to know him, he's js like any one of us..with lots of principle of his own..but he's not as scary as I describe though..He's a funny elder brother!! He's not that young either..as old as asawa!! Old ppl with their whole lot of principle!!

Florence- dunno what to say bout her..So blur and straight foward as usual..You will never expect what sudden question will she ask which you probably be damm shock of!! and she dun look like her real age either. But she's one of the nicest colleague to work with..always dunno whats happening around her...I'm really going to miss you..really wanna dedicate this post for you!! Sunderland-CNY

Happy Chinese New Year to everybody. This made me remember all those CNY stuff I used to do with my family and the girls. Hanging out, taking ang pows from whoever we can find..play mahjong and family dinner.

OMG...I miss all those..sob sob sob

Thanks God , I went to Sunderland to visit yen and hwee li. I sort of celebrated my CNY there. But I felt kinda stupid as I bought my train ticket back to aberdeen on New Year day itself. haha...

But at least I had a really great Chinese New Year pre-celebration at Sunderland. Met up with my bestie, meet new frens and of cos eating new year dinner.

Mahjong, a must do activity during CNY. Used to play it everyday during CNY back in Malaysia..Miss those days when we hang out at chia wen's karaoke room to play mahjong!!

One of those stupid pose we did while strolling by the river to St Peters-University of Sunderland. I can't believe I did that kind of stupid pose..hmm..

There we jump at the Roker Beach. See the lighthouse?? Its the famous lighthouse of Sunderland. But there ntg really special about that either. Its just a normal lighthouse where you can find it easily anywhere.

The Glass Centre. See three of us looks like ahortie little dwarfs. Sorry kah ing..dun mean to stand between you both. Both hwee li and her darling bought me around for the whole day..which also means i've been a big bright light bulb for the whole day. hehe...

Family dinner. Simple yet one of the best dinner I had for Chinese New Year. Bah kut teh and simple stir fry vege. Three of us gossip the whole night through dinner. Talking bout the past, present and future. Sharing our funny thoughts and experiences.

Best Lunch. Beef Noodle hongkie style at Newcastle. The shop name is Jasmine. So if any of you are stopping by Newcastle, must try this..the best noodle I ate in UK for time being. haha..Love it so much..yummy!!! Besides its oso damm cheap lo..5 pounds for a drink and noodle..yummy!!!

Lastly camwhoring session with both Hwee Li and Yen. I love you both. Thanks for bringing me around even though you guys are both damm busy with assignments and HKMAS.

Number 1

After a hectic day of flat viewing and searching, we decided to go for a nice Scottish dinner. For once this food is GOOD!!

You can hardly find good food in Aberdeen. Not even their local food. But this restaurant has good ambience, good food (not much variety though. I think they only have 5 choices of starter, 8 choices of main course and 5 choices of dessert as well..sound bit pathetic) and of cos good wine and music to go with. No wonder the name of it is Number 1.

I was seriously quite curious and surprise when my fren told me that the name of the restaurant is Number 1. Funny name to put unless ur food are really number 1 la..

Cappucino something something...I dun remember their name..but the sugary cookies that melt in ur mouth are absolutely utopian.

Nway, Charlene, you must see this..their dessert is beautiful ..but really not as nice as it seems. A little too sweet I thought. But its an eye candy. I miss all those dessert you have in ur hotel darling. And those japanese dessert we used to indulge in. OMG...misss those!!

I'm really stressed out looking and searching for suitable flat. I'm almost homeless. I have to stay at my sweet flat mate room soon. I am bloody troubled these few days. Breaking into tears so many time already. This is worse den homework. So many requirement..yet so little time..Its bloody killing me!!

Sunderland here I come!!

Moi just bought train ticket to go visit moi's best sista in sunderland..yay!! so happy...

So I would be away from 21st to 25th Jan. Spending my "early" chinese new year there. Would be of cos celebrating my first chinese new year of uk in Sunderland with Yen, Hwee Li and her Bobo.

I'll be shifting house soon as well. Though I haven really find any house yet, but I'll be quite homeless after 17 Jan if I still dun find a house...

NEW YEAR

Oh ya..almost forgot to update about the new year steamboat dinner we had with hwee li and her frens (Nway, hwee li..ur frens are super sweet. Thanks for the tiramisu and the white wine..the wine is fantastic)

Our steamboat...Looks very luxurious eh..too bad, no abalone, no fish and no ''kan pei'

But we made sui-jiao ourself for steamboat and it taste fantastic. Wanna learn some recipe from me??hehe..

Sui Jiao recipe
1. Mince meat (as much as u like)
2. Finely chopped Onion (1/4 amount of ur mince meat)

3. Finely chopped Carrots (1/4 amount of ur mince meat or same as ur onions)

4. Whole egg (depends how much meat u using..more meat more egg)

Lastly is of cos the sui-jiao skin. Dun ask me how to make that..cos someone ask me if i made the skin myself..Though I noe it looks nice..but dun ask me how eh..I dunno..Just buy from the supermarket lo. If ur staying in Aberdeen just go Matthew. The only pathetic chinese supermarket u can find here which selling at very expensive price.

MIXING TIME

Mix all the things together (from 1-4). Add somemore egg if u feel ur mixture is too dry. It should be a bit sticky sticky la..Cos if not sticky den later after u wrap who noes all ur meat will drop out. So it will be bit ugly la. So if u wanna have nice little sui-jiao den put egg. But if u put too much..den abit no good. (seriously I dun really noe what will happen if u put too much..Can try leh..who noes..try d let me noe!!)

WRAPPING TIME

Nway. after u mix everything together, Den you can start wraping the meat into the sui jiao skin. Put 1 teaspoon of meat in the middle (put more meat if u wan..but dun be too greedy that u cant even wrap it la..).

Den moist the edge of the skin with some water..just dab bit of water at the edge so that the skin can stick together.

Fold it into half and make the edge curly. Its gonna look like some curry-puff. You eat dimsum b4 rite..just do the same shape that u see in ur dim sum la..as long as u dun put too much skin at one side den can d..if not u end up eating flour paste which is kinda gross!!

There the shape should be like those sui jiao that bobo holding in the plate.

EATING TIME

Sui jiao you can basically just eat with anything. Can just steam it as snack or cook in the soup. But I think the best is still cook in soup..eat as steamboat..Fanstastic!!

Moi life now is working in Royal China and living a pig's life for time being till exam which is due next week.

It's not really a conventional pig life either cos pig dun shop on boxing day but i do. Bought a white coat from TOPSHOP (which is supposed to be 80 pounds but I got it for 30 pounds...) and a boots from DIVA (which is 40 pounds but i bought it for 15 pounds..technically my colleague bought it for me as belated bday pressie). So its definitely a BIG BARGAIN. Drove all the way from aberdeen to glasgow and edinburgh to get those..Shopping there is fantastic..so much more better den Aberdeen..

Yay, I cook nasi lemak for dinner..hot spicy curry chicken..a little ikan bilis, eggs, timun and of couse the coconut milk rice..yummy!!

First time to cook it...taste absolutely yummy!! but it wasnt really as nice as mamak la..but its the best you can find in Aberdeen..

One day I might just open a malaysian food restaurant in Aberdeen. Hot spicy food..woa..haha..

Romantic Rumba

This is the dance I idolise so much. Speaks so much about expressing romatism in dance form.

Moving in such fluid movement. As if each move were effortless and natural.

RUMBA...the most romantic latin dance. I wanna learn that!! Its just like telling a love story through ur dance. Every single detail meant a significant chapter of the story..



So awed while watching the clip..I watch it like 5 to 6 times in one night..haha..Getting a little head over toes for Rumba..

I wish there is some place in Aberdeen that I can learn Rumba. hmm...really miss salsa loco now..at least der got rumba..

Designing Edinburgh

First part of the project which last for 6 weeks..just on site analysis..so not used to getting such long time for site analysis.

Back in Limkokwing, we only get like 1 or 2 weeks to "gau dim sai" the whole site analysis. So, its still kinda relax now. Chill everyday, no 24 working hours like limkokwing. I guess Limkokwing really trained us to be real tough. Coming here makes me appreciate my lecturers in Limkokwing more ( miss Rosalind- wee lick's n moon's mummy, Suzy, Alvin - always asking us to redo, sharonee- talk damm long, siva, structural lecturer-forget the name..but remember the face)

Here in RGU, lecturer are kinda gentle..not like in limkokwing, we get shoot with M16 right in ur face. that make us really good at defending our work. cos too used to wearing steel amour in limkokwing (but sometimes the lecturer's bullet too strong oso tak boleh guna)

At first at my earlier post, I was complaining about how our 'ang moh' group mate treat us. I mean maybe they din trust our ability as asian gua..but now..we had proved that we're so much better than what they thought of us, so most of dem treat us much more friendlier than last time. Not blaming dem, I guess I made my conclusion too fast bout them. But there are still some of dem who still thinks dey are so much superior den us and tries to make our life hell der. No doubt der is always bad ppl and good ppl.

Depressed..

Since school started, I haven really been adapting to the working style in uni.

My groupmates are really racist..I feel really depressed and dunno what to do. All of us had did our best to coperate. We put our ego down. We no longer work the way we did in Limkokwing (In Limkokwing, we took charge, we get things going, though we're not the best student in class, but i belive we're all one of those who had put lot of effort in)

But right here in RGU, I had a hard time. We try to please our classmate. We listen to their advise, thinking that we might learn something from dem. But we end up being critisize, belittle and left aside.

Tell me what can I do to change this. Tell me what can I do to stop my tears from trickling down my cheeks.

The only comfort I find here in Aberdeen is not in my homework. Instead we found little simple hope to cheer us up in our simple home-cook dinner and our part time jobs.

Where can we seek for comfort when even lecturers do the same to us. Belittle us like we can never achieve the standard they had set in the school. Having inconsiderate and unappropriate perceptions of the design and technical standards we have.

Its unfair...Really unfair!! A disgrace to the society of tutoring and education. Aren't lecturers are suppose to be fair?? Aren't they suppose to grade you according to ur skills and not ur skin colours?

Right here typing furiously through my laptop, breaking every keys i type. Tears trickle while I wrote all these. I just want to push all these negative thoughts thats in my head.

I dun understand what is there to look down at?? Being asian means we're lower class??Being Malaysian means we do not achieve the same standard as u guys??I'm proud to be one Malaysian. I'm proud of my work..

I just wanna say, I really really sad. I regret coming to such a place where I thought I could get more knowledge. Learning from the people here.

International Fun Day

After so many days of Depression...thanks to my stupid hostel..I think its time for some fun..

Nway, I somehow saw this brochures from the hostel saying that there's this international fun day at Duthie Park, so I tot why not!! Give Aberdeen a chance..even though its a cold and gloomy city..but sometimes the sun will bring some happy little things that would lift our spirits..

The FUN DAY did really lift up my mood a lot..at least i felt little bit more happier..Its a really nice day to go to a park seeing grampian police all dressed up in traditional Scottish Attire, damm funny..Before I came to Aberdeen, my boss and my asawa were telling me to look under those scottish guy's dress to see whether dey wear underpants..Cos the myth say dey dun wear underpants when dey where scottish dress..but if i ever go under those Grampian Police to look under their skirts I'll probably end up in Aberdeen Jail..which is shitty!! stupid idea

Besides the fair..there's also this Winter Garden inside the Duthie Park..Its a garden inside a park..a conserved garden that uses controlled temperature to keep all those tropical flowers from all over the country which includes malaysia as well alive all through winter and any other season. Anyway, Aberdeen is gonna be cold all year round, so no difference!!

They even have 35 degree hot desert cacti as well. I mean if ur so interested in all types of plants or ur taking subjects like "herbalogy"which harry potter hates..den probably u will make good use of it..if not..just take it as an "very useful" experience.

This is the Cacti garden I'm sayin..damm hot!! Though we dun look like..but its hot..Imagine 35 degree with all ur coats on..shitty hot..

However, some of the flowers got bit off beat..haha..some are kinda dead..Some of those sunflower were already kinda dead..I mean all are hanging downwards. Leaving to hibernate for the winter..

Those dead sunflower looks like shower rose..all natural, no mechanical preservatives..So I tot of taking a bath with all my clothes on..Dun look ppl!! Its X-RATED..only for kids below 5.

Strawberries were oso kinda dead..I only found one that is stil red..So i better eat it while its stil on the ground..if not it probably turn brown the next minute..cant miss it..critical moment!!

I even manage to make a wish using my Malaysian Ringgit 10 cents. How I miss Malaysian Ringgit..now everything in Malaysia seems so cheap to me..POUNDS!! Everything is expensive here if u convert those currency..aiiks..
